Hailey's Swimming Birthday Party

Tonight we celebrate Hailey's birthday with some of her friends. She wanted to have a swimming party this year. I wasn't going to let her do it because she has so many friends and it would be hard to watch all of them. Needless to say I gave in and let her do the party but I had to make her choose just a small set of friends. It was so hard for her not being able to invite everyone but mainly we just invited her dance team. Hailey is a good friend to lots of  people and didn't want anyone to be left out. I am proud of her for thinking of everyone and being willing to listen to our advice and just invite some friends.

The girls had a great time. We had a yummy pizza dinner, opened presents, had cake and swam. The girls were all so excited and I think it was a success! Thanks to all her darling friends who came and for the nice gifts. She loves you!
The pictures are sort of out of order so sorry I'm too tired to care. For Hailey's birthday I made her this doll bed for her American girl dolls. She was so excited and her dolls love the bed. I was pretty impressed with my self taught sewing skills and the fact that I figured the bedding out. We also took Hailey to Toys R Us and let her pick out a birthday gift. She chose a doll that swims in water. Perfect and fitting for our little fish!

her swimming party wouldn't have been complete with our Ariel right! haha

Mini Azurettes

This week Hailey was able to particpate in a small two day dance clinic with the Copperhills High School Drill Team. She has a lot of fun. They learned a dance for two days and then performed the third. Her best friend Mia attended with her and they had a great time. Also her team was asked to perform at the showcase as well. Hailey did awesome. She works so hard and is improving a ton. Competition season is starting so let me know if you want to come see her!!

Grandma's Funeral.

Saturday we laid my Dear Grandma to rest. It was a beautiful day and a beautiful funeral. You can read more about my Grandma in previous posts.

A new pick outfit...

Hailey has needed some new dresses bad. I had no excuse to get any but since we had a funeral to attend I had an excuse to get her a new outfit. She wanted to get something pink since it was Great Grandmas favorite color. I assumed we'd run to a store find an outfit and be done. Boy was I wrong. My six ... almost seven year old is quite opinionated and didn't always like what Mom picked. She told me a lot of things were too babyish. Really at this age she is forming this much of a clothing opinion....sad day at my house. I am happy with what we picked out and she loves it so I guess it was a win win situation. Can you tell how much she loved it....she didn't want to stop posing! haha

Grandma Martence Blockburger Clark Thorton

Two weeks ago today my Mom called to let me know that she had taken Grandma to the ER. She said she had pneumonia and would be fine. For some reason I got the feeling that it might not be long until she was gone. Later that night she was sent home on oxygen. I hadn't seen Grandma until the end of the week when my Mom again called to let me know she wasn't doing good. That Thursday after dance we stopped by to see Grandma. I could tell she was sick and not feeling good. However Grandma was in her happy spirits and still had a smile on her face. I was glad that Hailey and I were able to visit her that night. Then again on Friday we went back to visit her. She was still not dong good. I think she enjoyed seeing Hailey and I. My Grandma suffered from Alzheimer's but she always remembered Hailey. She didn't remember a lot in the end but she still remembered Hailey. Grandma also always remembered that she was special to us and we were lucky to get her. I hold a special place in my heart for Grandma and the fact that despite her sickness she always remembered that. On Friday she still remembered Hailey and loved talking to her about school. She also told me how lucky I was to get her. I am grateful for the nice visit we had that day with Grandma. Saturday she went even more downhill and was pretty much just in pain and sleeping. She didn't open her eyes or respond. I am grateful that I was able to spend alot of time with my mom over there. I got to hold my Grandma hand and talk to her despite her being sick. She did squeeze my hand back a few times but was not able to verbalize anything to me. I have never been this close to seeing anyone die. It has definitely been a hard week on me. I also felt pretty close to Grandma and spent quite a bit of time with her. I also enjoyed taking Hailey to see her and get to know her too. Hailey loved Great Grandma and was always excited to see her. I have to admit telling Hailey my Grandma died was very hard. I hated seeing how sad she was but Hailey was happy to know she was in heaven and that we could be with her again. I am so grateful for all the memories I have of my Grandma. I am grateful for all the time I was able to spend with her last weekend and then to go give her one last good bye after she passed on. It's such a bittersweet thing with her death. I know for her sake she is rejoicing in heaven and loving having her memory back but we miss her here to. I love you Grandma. We will think of you often and are grateful for the time we had with you here on this Earth.
I found these cute pictures of Hailey playing with my Grandma and I couldn't resist posting them. These are the pictures I will cherish forever.

So intune....

Last Sunday my last living Grandma died. It has been very hard on me but I will post more about it later. My cute visiting teachers brought me over some treats. I had to take a picture because they must have been inspired to bring over what they did. First off DIET COKE... of course that is my favorite but my Grandma was also a Diet Coke junkie! Symphony Candy bar fits my Grandma perfect because she LOVED music. One of my favorite memories I have was of going to my grandmas house and she would play the piano and we would sing for hours. She loved music and loved to dance to the beat. Last but not least the Paper Plate and Napkins were PINK....that was my Grandmas favorite color.
Thanks to my Visiting Teachers for not only being inspired to come visits me but for the nice gifts to help me remember my Grandma.

Girls dinner out....

This makes me laugh. It looks like Brittany took the little girls out to dinner! Love it!
The parents were really there but we were at a different table. Lets just say we had a nice quiet Texas Roadhouse dinner! haha

Valentine's Class Party

Before Hailey went off track I was able to put together her class Valentine's party. I threw it together very last min so it wasn't fabulous but it worked! We made a cute valentine heart craft then played some games. THe kids had a lot of fun. Poor Hailey wasn't feeling the best that day and ended up with Strep so I'm glad that it still went off okay despite the last minute planning!

I found this game online and it was sooo cute. You use straws and qtips. Then you put the qtip in the bottom of the straw and shoot it at Heart bowls. So fuN!

I think this bowling game was one of the kids favorite. I got a red bowl and then spray painted cans pink. It worked out great!
